1.) Open your favorite web browser and navigate to zdoom.org
2.) Head over to the downloads and select either 64 or 32-bit depending on your Windows version
3.) Navigate to your downloads and extract the compressed folder
4.) Now you need to copy the .wad file(s) over to this folder
** I cannot provide these files due to copyright ** You can find them in your original game installation (or on the internet I’m sure).
I have Doom 3 BFG Edition, and I pre-copied the .wad files to my desktop for convenience during this tutorial.
5.) Next, open your browser back up and head over to www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom to download the Brutal Doom Mod
6.) Switch back to your downloads and extract the compressed folder for the Brutal Doom Mod
7.) Copy the mod file over to the GZDoom directory
8.) The first and quickest way to open this is to drag the Brutal Doom Mod file over to the GZDoom Executable
I have also included a permanent method, which consists of creating a small batch file and a shortcut
1.) Create a new text document in the GZDoom root directory and open it
2.) Type the following:
** You may have to change the name of the Brutal Doom Mod file (.pk3 file) depending on what version of the Mod you download.
So if the name was bd20final.pk3, you would type – gzdoom.exe bd20final.pk3
3.) Save the file with a .bat extension so that it is recognized as a batch file
4.) You can now delete the blank text file, and then run the batch file you just created to test it out
5.) Create a shortcut pointing to the batch file you just created
