How to Uninstall LSMC

This guide outlines uninstalling LSMC, as well as a secondary method if LSMC refuses to remove itself correctly.

1.) Boot the computer from the LSMC USB Drive

2.) Select the option to uninstall on the main menu. The option number could change between LSMC versions, so please be aware of this and make sure you choose the proper option number that corresponds to “Uninstall”.

3.) Select OK

4.) That’s it. Click OK to restart the computer.

HELP – LSMC still opens from the Accessibility icon on my login screen after uninstalling.

If LSMC does not remove itself after following the steps above, try the following:

1.) Boot the computer from the LSMC USB Drive once more.

2.) On the main menu, type the following: restore and press Enter

3.) This should restore the functionality of the accessibility icon on your login screen by restoring the Ease of Access executable (utilman.exe) with another copy found in the \Windows\SysWOW64 directory.

4.) Type “6” and press Enter to restart the computer and verify that normal functionality is restored.

THE NUCLEAR OPTION

If both of the methods above did not work and LSMC still launches from the accessibility icon, then you can attempt the nuclear option.

This does not restore the functionality of the accessibility icon, it disables it completely. Neither LSMC or the “normal” Ease of Access menu will appear after following this step.

1.) Boot the computer from the LSMC USB Drive once more.

2.) On the main menu, type the following: kill and press Enter

3.) Type “6” and press Enter to restart the computer.
